Mission
Our mission is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever by proclaiming of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and joining together in fellowship and worship. Since we are brought from death in sin to life in Christ, we know that our lives must be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we are conformed to the image of Christ and not the world (Romans 12:2).

Founded in 1850, Hamer Creek Baptist Church, located in Mount Gilead, North Carolina, has a long history of standing on the solid rock of Jesus Christ.

We are fully committed to the truth and sufficiency of Scripture. Our fellowship is built on the bonds of Christian love, esteeming others more than ourselves (Philippians 2:3), praising God that our salvations comes by grace alone through faith alone. We affirm that the Bible is God’s complete and Holy Word, perfectly able to teach, reprove, correct, and train in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).
Meet our Pastor-Teacher,
Rupert Medford
Rupert Medford is fully committed to preaching the word in truth by the power of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Rupert loves that the purpose of preaching is to make us more like Jesus. He knows that the Word will not return void. Rupert’s constant prayer is that when he preaches, God is exalted and man is small in a world where so many pulpits preach that man is big and God is small. He trusts that the Word does the work, revealing Christ to the hearts of people who are called by His name.
Rupert is married to his wife, Allison. They have three beautiful children: Naomi, Johanan, and Susannah Grace.
